DRIVING DIRECTIONS AND ATTRACTIONS |
Isla Mujeres - 3 miles (and 15-minute ferry) Parque Nizuc (aquatic park) - 7 miles Cozumel - 45 miles Xcaret (eco-archeological park) - 45 miles Xpu-Ha (aquatic park) - 60 miles Xel-Ha (archeological site) - 72 miles Tulum (Mayan ruins) - 80 miles Cobá (Mayan ruins) - 106 miles Chichén Itzá (Mayan ruins) - 120 miles Cancún International Airport (CUN): Approximate driving time is 20 minutes and distance is 13 miles. Driving directions from Cancún International Airport: Take airport access road going east and follow signs to Zona Hotelera and Blvd Kukulcan. Proceed north about seven miles on Blvd Kukulcan, to the Punta Cancún area and veer onto Paseo Kukulcan. Hotel will be on right. Authorized taxis, minivans (or collectivos), and private cars are the best way to make the journey from the airport to your hotel. Transportation options can be accessed as you exit the terminal to your right. A private taxi to downtown Cancún: $16–$25 USD. A private taxi to the Hotel Zone: more than $36 USD. Collectivos provide transportation to downtown Cancún: $5–$15 USD. A private car service to your hotel can be arranged: more than $36 USD. Rental cars are available at the airport and on this Web site: more than $36 USD. Note: Only authorized taxis are allowed to transport guests from the airport to their hotels. However, all taxis can take passengers to the airport from the city or Hotel Zone–cutting the fare almost in half. Getting around: The hotel is located within Zona Holtelera, or Hotel Zone and is within walking distance of the Cancún Convention Center and plenty of shopping, restaurants, and bars. Public and private buses connect the Hotel Zone to downtown and ferries: less than $5 USD. Once downtown, most tourist attractions are easily accessible by walking. Taxi rates in Cancún are determined by zones and the minimum fare within the Cancún Hotel Zone is $5 USD per ride. A list outlining the various taxi rates throughout the city should be available at the resort front desk: $5–$15 USD. Taxis can be rented by the hour or day if you want to visit the historic ruins outside of the city: more than $36 USD. Always negotiate your taxi fare before beginning your trip. Rental cars offer a convenient way to visit historic points outside the city: more than $36 USD. Mopeds are a convenient, yet extremely risky, way to get around the city and islands: $26–$35 USD. |

SERVICES |
| What to expect: Unmistakably, the Camino Real is contemporary Mexican-Caribbean in character and spirit—monumental, colorful, luxurious, tranquil, and hospitable. The resort embraces tropical light, air, and water while providing full vacation facilities including exceptional restaurants, a health-and-beauty spa, and a high-energy nightclub. Cancún Island's glitzy nightlife, shopping, and dining are within a five-minute walk. Amenity highlights: Lapping against the hotel's pyramid wing and bordered on one side by a beach, the resort's saltwater lagoon provides an option to the main beach, which is on the bay side of Punta Cancún. Next to the lagoon is a large freshwater pool surrounded by expansive decks and lawns for sunbathing on padded lounge chairs or reading in the shade of thatched-roof palapas. Insider tip: Perfect for jogging or contemplative strolling, a paved path runs through a green lawn along the pyramid wing's sea-facing side, offering panoramic views of the Caribbean. Pleasant discoveries on the path include a small ruin of a Mayan shrine and the sudden appearance of purple sculptures. The path also passes the hotel's Lighthouse Bar and a massage palapa at the base of a rocky point on whose tip a slender, yellow column casts a marine-navigation light. A suspended rope aids adventurous guests wishing to walk to the light to observe the sea and the bay. |
| Designed by renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, the 381-room hotel consists of two wings: a long, five-story structure with a sloping pyramid face and a 17-floor tower of overlapping, upright rectangles. Inside, instead of the usual slick-marble lobby floor, Legorreta employed roughly cut charcoal-gray marble paving stones for texture and threw magenta rugs here and there. In addition to sensory stimulation, the hotel offers a full range of facilities and services. Among them are a European-style health-and-beauty spa with men's and women's sides and a complimentary fitness center; a 24-hour business center; a shopping arcade; children's activity programs during high seasons; archeological excursions; and a nightclub, Azucar, where salsa and other Latin beats drive all-night dancing. Like all major Cancún hotels, Camino Real has a water-purification system. Note: for some hotel features, extra charges may apply. |
