Getting around: The hotel is located within Zona Holtelera, or Hotel Zone. Public and private buses connect the Hotel Zone to downtown and ferries: less than $5 USD. Once downtown, most tourist attractions are easily accessible by walking. Taxi rates in Cancún are determined by zones and the minimum fare within the Cancún Hotel Zone is $5 USD per ride. Amenity highlights: Running the entire width of the resort and including low dunes crossed by a wood-slat path, the beach beckons guests to the Caribbean's turquoise waters and offers them lounge chairs for sunning and thatched-roof palapas for shade. Pools in front of the Sheraton's two buildings, the Resort and the Towers, offer a diversion from the beach. Tranquility reigns around the large Towers pool located on a terrace furnished with padded lounge chairs; the terrace also holds a children's pool. Adjacent to the Resort building is a pool consisting of two huge intersecting circles with a volleyball net between them. On a lower level terrace is a large children's pool.

Insider tip: Lobby bars in each building celebrate Happy Hours, and these periods run consecutively, not simultaneously, so guests can move from one to another for low-cost, convivial imbibing.
