The optical-illusion, checkerboard lobby rug, inspired by old New York checker cabs, is a motif repeated throughout the hotel. The restaurant and bar attract trendy New Yorkers as well as visitors. The hotel's Murray Hill neighborhood is a mainly residential area bordering and within an easy walk of Midtown. Amenity highlights: The fourth-floor living room provides a private retreat for guests, offering comfortable seating and a work desk equipped with a computer and free Internet access. Free coffee, tea, and fruit are available in the living room until late each evening. The concierge is on duty 24 hours daily. Complimentary Continental breakfast is served in the chic Asia de Cuba restaurant, and the penthouse is a popular venue for private parties.
