    Driving directions from Newark: Follow signs to take US 1/US 9 north to I-95 (New Jersey Tpke) north (toll road). Take I-495 to the Lincoln Tunnel and exit to West Side Hwy/40th St. Turn right on W 40th St, then turn left on Avenue of the Americas. Turn left on W 51st St.

    Getting there: For the solo traveler, the best option from any of the airports is a shuttle van ($16–25). For groups of two or more, a taxi is usually a better value ($26–25 from LaGuardia; more than $36 from JFK and Newark). A long marble foyer lined with original French paintings, fresh flowers, and gilt-framed mirrors leads to a lobby with a crystal chandelier. Built in 1927 as the Taft Hotel, the Michelangelo displays its original light fixtures and brass moldings, and an authentic hand-painted Fortuny tapestry. The hotel attracts shoppers, sightseers, and business travelers to its “elegance without attitude” (the hotel’s motto) and prime Midtown location.

    Amenity highlights: The hotel provides complimentary weekday limousine service to Wall Street. Guests also receive twice-daily housekeeping and multilingual concierge service.

    Guests can take a complimentary weekday morning limo to Wall Street from 7 AM to 9 AM. For evening diversions, a multilingual concierge staff will help secure tickets to Broadway shows and reservations for top restaurants.
