Getting around: Located in the heart of downtown, the hotel is within walking distance of offices, shops, restaurants, live entertainment, and other attractions. Taxis—best arranged by phone—are convenient for short distances. Also, a large "ride free zone" spanning practically all of downtown allows riders to enjoy complimentary bus service. Although rush hour traffic is heavy, it is also possible to drive downtown; garages are generally easier to find than on-street parking. Rental cars are definitely the best bet for travel beyond the immediate area.

Insider tip: Visitors to the Emerald City often enjoy a ride on an elevated train called the monorail. It travels to and from Westlake Center—an upscale shopping mall at Fourth Ave and Pine St—and Seattle Center, whose attractions include the Space Needle and the Experience Music Project.
